Each purchase of this book (20% of the proceeds) will help in supporting One Girl, who break down the barriers that girls face in accessing a quality education. They do this by running girl-led programs in Sierra Leone and Uganda to drive positive change for girls and their communities.

Why girls?

Because right now, 132 million girls globally are denied an education, simply because they were born a girl. A further 11 million girls are at risk of never returning to school, due to impacts of COVID-19.

In Sierra Leone, 39% of girls are married before their 18th birthday and 13% are married before the age of 15. Instead of going to school.

But for every year of schooling, a girl’s income increases by 20%. Just by finishing primary school, she will be 10% less likely to fall pregnant as a teenager.

Supporting One Girl

One Girl education programs in Sierra Leone and Uganda focus on five key areas:
-
access to quality education and career development in and out of the classroom,
-
supporting future female role models,
-
promoting menstrual hygiene,
-
advocating for sexual and reproductive health, and
-
championing gender equality.

Every donation will help One Girl reach as many girls and young women as possible, sporting them to access both an education and essential supplies like school books, uniforms, solar lights and transport to help keep them focused and thriving in school.
